Spring/Summer Makeup Edit

Hello friends! Oh, it’s been a hot minute since we had a blog post! I’ve graduated college, moved back home and all that so it’s safe to say I have much more time now. Post-grad life is a lot of staying at home and job hunting because once I leave my house I spend $100….It’s legit a thing.

Summer technically doesn’t start till June 21, so this spring and moving forward I’m really feeling peachy toned, pink makeup, heavy blush and light face bases. Aka Spring Makeup. Since moving out from school I had to pack up all my makeup and skincare which was an actual nightmare. I have TOO much stuff, but in the process of packing up, I realized how much stuff I have and how many products I used to love and haven’t used in a while. I’m not saying move out of your house so you can learn to shop your stash but I’m saying it works.

Peach Tones

So back to makeup, LOTSA peach tones. I know it’s already a trend but it screams spring and it’s flattering. Blue shadow won’t look good on everyone but there is a shade of peach that can flatter many. There’s a few that I’m loving — Colourpop’s Sweet Talk Palette, it carries peachy shades but enough of a variety with neutrals and shimmers. The palette also has pressed glitter which is gorgeous – just messy and hard to clean up. The palette itself can’t get more spring makeup, it’s one of my favorites and I LOVE a pressed glitter moment. The quality of the matte shadows is really good too so overall, if you aren’t too upset with fall out, I’d recommend Colourpop’s pressed shadows.

I’m loving Supergoop’s Shimmershade* cream eye shadows with SPF. Supergoop gifted the shadows to me but I would have bought a few on my own! There is one shade in particular, golden hour which is a peachy golden shimmer and it’s beautiful. I swipe it on with a finger and it wears pretty well throughout the day with no primer. I love the idea of wearing SPF on my lids because the skin around your eyes is so fragile!

Colourpop’s jelly eye shadows are a newish product and I have one that I grabbed a few months back and just got around to trying. — Awful right but talk about shopping your stash. It’s awesome when you find new stuff still in the packaging! Anyways, jelly makeup is having a moment — jelly highlighters, blushes and eyeshadows are pretty popular at Sephora and in the drugstore. I heard they can dry out but I like the Colourpop one I grabbed – -I have the shade ‘close to you’ and it’s super pigmented and offers a metallic glitter look that won’t flake off or get in your eye. It’s beautiful and it creased minimally which doesn’t make me too upset. I have oily lids and don’t really mind if I crease. It happens. Um, how good would this shadow look with the pink hair?

Dewy Blush

I have bought sooo much blush lately! I swore off of it because I had rosacea for the longest time and adding more red/pink coloring to my cheeks seemed counterintuitive when I was trying to get rid of it/ conceal it. Maybe I’m making up for lost time but now I’ve loving blush. My current favorites are Nudestix Nudies Bloom in sweet peach peony and tiger lily queen. Along with Milk Makeup Glow Oil blushes in glimmer and flare.

Charlotte Tilbury also came out with new glowgasm blushes in her highlighter wand packaging. The name is cringeworthy but peachgasm is pretty. I apply the product on a sponge and blend it in that way because it sinks better into the skin. I don’t like applying it straight from the applicator because I feel like it sits on my skin rather than sinking in and emphasizes pores.

If you don’t like dewy blush or want something longer lasting, I love Mac ‘warm soul’ or Benefit ‘ Dallas.’ Charlotte Tilbury makes some gorgeous powder blushes too! Colourpop just released new cream blushes and I bought some of those. whoops.

Light Bases

I think a light base is in all year round. I’d rather see natural skin with a few blemishes than a flawless cake face. I applaud real skin. So a few bases I like are Milk Makeup’s skin tint, Charlotte Tilbury’s unisex healthy glow tinted moisturizer and Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost foundation. They’re all light to medium coverage and I honestly think they’re all great. I rotate through them depending on the day and which one matches my coloring the best. I need to buy a Milk skin tint in a darker shade because its one of my favorites and it has SPF 30.

I also Love Dior face and body and Armani Luminous Silk! I like to use a dewy primer – Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow primer which leaves a gorgeous luminous finish and Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi — my favorite product ever that I actually prefer to mix into foundation to sheer it out and make it bronzey and more luminous. Dewy base primers are easy to find at the drugstore so don’t think you need to shell out $60 to look glowy!

Spring MOTD

Here’s my spring look — no filter. iPhone X really pick up every little line and texture huh? Lol #normalizerealskin. Wearing Armani Luminous Silk mixed with Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi. Nudestix Nudies Bloom Sweet Peony Peach blush, Stila Kitten Highlighter. Milani Soleil Baked Bronzer, Colourpop Close To You jelly shadow. Becca Cupid’s Kiss lipstick and Neutrogena Hydroboost gloss in Almond Nude.

This is the prettiest makeup I’ve done in a while! It made me feel so inspired to play with more stuff! More spring makeup looks will be on the blog/IG soon. I’m thinking a yellow matte shadow moment along with an orange matte shadow moment. I just made a Colourpop order with new goodies and I’m excited to play with makeup!
