What happens to the makeup and beauty products you forgot you had? As a beauty blogger, I have a lot of beauty products and I’m guilty of looking through my stash and finding a lot of stuff I forgot that I bought. It’s interesting to look at my makeup because I have oodles of bronzer and highlighter but barely any eyeshadow. What can I say, I buy what I like! I want to give reviews on all of these products / explain or talk through why they aren’t in my daily rotation. It doesn’t mean their bad products! It just means I have something that I reach for before I go for these.
L’Oreal Lumi Bronzer – $11
I got this to see how it performed. Overall, I don’t think there are many great drugstore bronzers and I wanted to see if this would fill that void. It’s ok and one of the better ones I’ve tried but I’m not reaching for it very often. I do love the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer which you could argue is drugstore but in terms of price, a $15 bronzer isn’t really drugstore.
Too Faced Chocolate Gold – $30
I get big eyes and buy what I’m interested in. This is a shimmer, AF bronzer. I like a shimmer bronzer but this rivals a highlighter. I love a glow but that’s a lot. I like a dewy glow versus a shimmery one. Anyways, this is shimmer AF. I don’t reach for it often because of that. It is really pretty on top of bronzer for a glow or as a blush. I should start using this again because it’s a good bronzer, just very specific. I like it layered with cream bronzer or regular bronzer but always lightly.
Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer – $30 for new packaging
This bronzer is bomb. It has two shimmer colors to it, a lighter and darker bronzer and it’s a very wearable shimmer that gives your skin a glowy sheen. This is really blendable and never muddy. I just haven’t been reaching for it because I recently got the Marc Jacobs Omega bronzer and it’s just so good I don’t want to use anything else.
These bronzers in the old packaging are on sale at Tj Maxx or Nordstrom Rack for around $10. If you can get your hands on one, I totally recommend it because it’s a good bronzer. I will start using this once I slow my role with the MJ one.
Tom Ford Bronzer – $78
This bronzer isn’t very pigmented. I got this at Saks off 5th because it was Tom Ford and on sale. I’m not sure if it’s old or a bad batch but it’s lackluster. I appreciate it because it’s Tom Ford and I’m a product junkie but I quite honestly forgot I owned it. I need to play with it again. It pairs really well over creams because it’s not very pigmented.
I got this palette because it was a new, alluring release that looked like something I wanted. There’s also a Morphe store near me so it’s really easily accessible. This is a good little palette I just don’t think it’s aimed for the type of makeup I usually do. These are super pigmented powders that are suited for a beat face. If I do the natural, dewy look which is every day, I go for creams and don’t have a reason to use this palette. The highlighters are very pigmented and blinding. I’m not so into that anymore.
Noticing a trend? I impulsively buy makeup that’s already what I own just because it’s new, shiny and decently exciting for a day. Sheeesh. I really need to get better at that.
I should have way more on here!
I can tell you exactly how I got this. I came out one school day, I got the Trendmood notification, I had enough money in my bank account and my roommate talked me into it. Look where we are now. I haven’t used this in months because it’s a very foiled highlighter look and I don’t like that in a highlighter anymore. I’ve aged out. I like intense but more natural of a texture and dewy. I’ll give this to a friend.
I was so obsessed with this for so long and I just stopped using it one day. I didn’t need it but I got it. It’s a really pretty highlighter and not too intense, IMO so I’m going to try to start incorporating this back into my routine.
Mac Warm Soul – $29
I love this blush because I don’t like blush and this is a nude, bronzer color. I really like how it looks but since I don’t use blush often I forget about this. I also am loving the Jillian Dempsey cheek tints. I don’t own a lot of blush so I don’t regret buying this. I do need to use it more because it’s really pretty and subtle.
This is technically a bronzer but it’s weaved with brown and pink powder so I don’t use it to bronze. I like this on my cheeks and the color is gorgeous! It’s a flushed tan and totally my cup of tea. I need to start using this again! I also love it in the crease for an easy eye look.
Glossier Lidstar. – $30 for 2.
I eagerly made a trip to the Glossier showroom when these released because I was in NY. I like the concept but the color and payoff is underwhelming. I like Fawn, the grey-purple shade the best but it’s subtle and I’ve worn it once! Yikes. Herb is gorgeous but it get’s very patchy and it’s hard to work with. These are meant to be subtle because they get patchy when you build them up. Really subtle like a wash of a watercolor. I like subtle makeup but this is just not even worth it. I haven’t used them since got them so I would say not worth it.
I impulsively bought 3 of these! They suck. I hate the formula, they’re SO dry and they give you a crusty, white line on your lip. Huge waste. One of the driest lips I’ve tried and they’re supposed to be a cream!
Gorgeous lip, but I just have more that I like better. The formula is great, but the color is more berry, pink which is why I don’t use it as much. If you want a sheer, glossy lip for every day, this is a good option.
Desi x Katy Dose of Colors lip, limited edition.
I forgot about this. The color is gorgeous and a very different sort of nude. Almost more yellow/orange in a good way. I will say I’m very intrigued by the new iluvvsarahii x Dose of Colors collection. I love the quality!
This is a good little drugstore concealer with great coverage but my Tarte Shape tape, Too Faced born this way and RMS concealer are what I reach for and this isn’t better than those. I don’t often go for drugstore stuff and it’s rarely a preference over my high-end stuff!
Milk Makeup Watermelon serum. – $36
I love this, still do I just have other things I reach for. I think this does brighten and hydrate but it’s not a very potent product. It’s gentle and great before makeup but I wouldn’t recommend this product if you’re really looking for big results. It’s slower and just a more tame, subtle skin brightener.
Acure Oils – $7
Best drugstore oils on the market. The Blue Tansy was my favorite and it’s made of coconut oil oddly enough which I usually don’t like for my face. The quality is great and they’re proof that you don’t need to spend a lot on a good oil that’ll melt into the skin. I love oils so I like to buy boujee ones and that’s what I reach for. I just like the ones I use now more and don’t reach for these as often.
I don’t use this enough. It’s a great clay mask that cleans out your pores. I’ve seen the best results pore wise with this mask!
Bliss Marshmellow mask – $16
I love the texture of this mask but not sure what it does for my skin. I think it’s more pampering! Sure I feel a little softer and glowy but isn’t that every mask? Maybe hydrating. I need to use this because it’s just a refreshing experience.
This post is good for me because it shows what I have and what I waste my money on. Definitely trying to be more conscious about my spending and this holds me accountable. These products don’t get enough love but that doesn’t mean they’re all bad. It’s hard because I want to try everything new but boy do you get overwhelmed with product! I think this is also a good lesson because I need to shop my stash!!
